Big Updates From Instagram Reels To Beauty Parlor Dispute

Greater Noida murder: The dowry death case in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has sparked massive public outrage. There is a growing demand for justice for 28-year-old Nikki Bhati, who was allegedly set on fire by her in-laws on August 21. So far four people have been arrested in the case, including Nikki Bhati's husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. Police said on Sunday that Nikki Bhati's 28-year-old husband, Vipin Bhati, set her on fire after a dispute over posting reels on social media and her desire to reopen her beauty parlor.

10 big things about the Nikki murder case

1. Sisters Trapped in Dowry Cruelty

Both Nikki and her sister Kanchan married into the Bhati family in Sirsa, Greater Noida, in 2016 and allegedly endured constant abuse, assault, dowry demands, and vandalism throughout their marital life. Nikki returned home several times after the assaults but was persuaded to return each time in the hope of reconciliation. According to the report, despite lavish gifts given in dowry—a Scorpio SUV, a Royal Enfield, cash, and gold—the cruelty escalated, and eventually another Rs 36 lakh was demanded.

2. Nikki Killed Over Work Ambition

The final reason for Nikki Bhati's murder after the dowry dispute was her desire to work. At around 3:30 pm on August 21, Nikki told her husband, Vipin Bhati, that she wanted to reopen her beauty parlor with her sister. Police said on Sunday that the two often quarreled, and Vipin objected to her presence on Instagram and her ambition to resume work.

3. Vipin set her on fire.

When Nikki insisted and argued that no one could stop him, Vipin got furious. Police say that he poured an inflammable substance on Nikki inside the house and set her on fire. She died a few hours later in a Delhi hospital. Kasna police station in-charge Dharmendra Shukla said that Vipin told her that posting reels on Instagram and running a parlor is forbidden in their family. Things got worse, and he started beating her.

4. Horrifying video surfaces

One of the most horrifying aspects of the case is that the murder was video recorded. Videos widely shared on social media claim that Vipin poured thinner on Nikki while she sat helplessly on the floor. Another clip shows him assaulting Nikki, and a third captures the horrific scene of Nikki running down the stairs while engulfed in flames. The family claims that these videos were deliberately recorded by Nikki's sister, Kanchan, to document years of abuse. These visuals have not only shocked the entire nation but have also become an important symbol of the evidence of the dowry violence epidemic that continues in India.

5. Vipin Shows No Remorse After Arrest

Police said that Vipin Bhati has no regrets. During interrogation, he told the police that fights between husband and wife are common. Vipin Bhati was arrested on Saturday after being injured in a police encounter. Let us tell you that the relationship between the husband and wife was at its peak in the two weeks before the incident.

6. Vipin’s Viral Social Media Posts

On Sunday, several screenshots of Vipin's social media account went viral. In one post, he posted his picture with Nikki and wrote that nothing is left. In another post, he wrote that people are calling him a murderer. Along with this, he also hinted that his life had no purpose anymore. Another screenshot showed him justifying his actions by blaming constant quarrels. The viral posts have created outrage, with people demanding strict punishment and highlighting the dangers of toxic relationships.

7. Sisters' social media presence

Both sisters, Nikki and Kanchan, were active on their Instagram and YouTube channels and were running the channel for the parlor under the handle Makeover by Kanchan. As of Sunday, the Instagram account had 54,500 followers, while Kanchan's personal account had 22,000 followers. Nikki had 1,147 followers. She was actively posting videos and content and had over 29 lakh views.

8. Victim’s Family Silence for Years

Nikki's brother Vicky said that they remained silent for years to avoid social embarrassment. But now they want the entire Bhati family behind bars. Nikki's father-in-law fled in a van after hearing the news of her death. A total of four members of the family have now been charged with murder, conspiracy, and assault under the Indian Penal Code. But the public wants more. This brutal murder should be presented as an example.

10. People's anger flared up.

As the information about the case came to light, people's anger increased both online and offline. Kanchan started the Justice for Nikki campaign and told what the two sisters suffered behind the closed doors of a joint family.

Family Booked in Murder Conspiracy

A case has been registered at the Kasna police station against the victim's husband, Vipin Bhati; father-in-law, Satyavir Bhati; mother-in-law, Daya Bhati; and brother-in-law, Rohit Bhati, under sections 103 (murder), 115 (2) (intentional hurt), and 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police have arrested all of them.
